About Pauline Schloesser

Hi! My name is Pauline Schloesser. I’m a wife, married for 21 years, mother of two sons, and a yoga practitioner and teacher. I’m totally into anything relating to Indian spirituality, but more specifically, yoga, goddess worship, Sanskrit language, philosophy study, chanting, and other practices for achieving liberation. I believe we should all make efforts to take care of the planet before she erupts in fury and evicts the human race. I believe very strongly in marital fidelity and the importance of keeping things interesting between husband and wife, husband and husband, wife and wife, whatever. I revere marriage and family in whatever form.

My neighborhood community is also important to me. I don’t spend much time with people who are not yoga practitioners, so my neighbors provide some balance to my otherwise secluded life. I relish healthful and tasty vegetarian food, and love to share it with others. We have two neighboring families that we used get together with every weekend for a potluck. That stopped for a year (most of 2020) due to Covid-19; but we’re all vaccinated now, so it’s back on again. Hugging! How great! How we all took it for granted! This event provides weekly entertainment, giggles, and a feeling of love and connection, which fortifies me for the rest of the week. By the way, this weekly socializing supports my last point above, which is marital fidelity. It’s good to have close relationships with other functioning and happy couples. I like to travel, but this isn’t the time for it.

During the week I work as teacher and student of yoga classes. Since March of 2020 I’ve been teaching through zoom exclusively. A yoga teacher is only as good as her personal practice, so I practice asana 6 days a week. One of the blessings of this pandemic is I get to take regular classes from my teachers (2-3 per week) in addition to my own practice. It’s such a luxury to have great teachers!

The practice of yoga has helped me to grow up, and be a happier person, and I try to pass that on to my students. I am a devotee of Iyengar Yoga, but none of my teachers are responsible for my content! I and only I am responsible for this content, though I owe so much to all of my great teachers. I teach a lot of pregnant students because I’ve become very good at this and not very many people are really knowledgeable in this area. But I strive to expand my knowledge in yoga therapeutics, pranayama, philosophy, and advanced asanas.
